I was tired and exasperated to tears and then, i saw your post. You can only upgrade to iOS 7.0.4 if you're using the latest version of iTunes. The reason you were getting errors with the IPSW files is because starting from iTunes 11, Apple stopped letting you do the manual restore (Shift+restore) to install an older iOS. I put into DFU mode before i did anything and it worked perfectly.

That's great! Itunes will check on something before letting you click the restore using the special keystroke of holding down the shift key (windows) or the equivalent for mac (cmd?) then click itunes maybe there is something i missed?
