KOREA BEACHES
The following is a brief
look at a few beaches within the Busan area, of which I am
most familiar in Korea.
Haunedae Beach, located along a street in the Haunedae area,
Busan. Cafes,
restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels line the street
opposite the beach. There is a fantastic mountain view to your left as you gaze from the beach. To the right a small hillside boardwalk and other walking area, which is excellent for a Sunday afternoon. In July and August the beach is packed literally from side to side with people and large sun umbrellas. June and September are not so busy. It is perhaps the most famous and popular beach in Korea. Night life, especially spring and summer can mean weekend live music,
fireworks and more.
Seongdo, or Songdo beach is located not far from Busan.
You may take buses 7, 9, 71, and 30 from Nampo-dong towards
Songdo or buses 34, and 134 from Busan Station towards Songdo.
Nampo Dong and Busan Station are both located on the red subway
line, and clearly marked in English.
You may want to bring a note written in Korean (Sondo beach) to
show a taxi driver if you prefer. The beach is smaller
than most and never seems to be over crowded. Several
restaurants and cheaper motels and a few hotels line the
beach opposite the street. There is a nice boardwalk to
the right that wraps around a rocky cliff face. The scene
looking out from the beach is quite beautiful.
Gwangalli Beach is very similar to Haunedae beach in that it is located along a city street where restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels line the street opposite the beach. The beach is not as populated or crowded. It is located in the Gwangan area, (red subway line)
You may sit in a cafe and enjoy the beach view or stroll
along the beach. You have an excellent view of Gwangan bridge,
which is also particularly nice at night as it shines its many
lights towards the beach.
